RCB star Virat Kohli starts countdown and shares social media post
Mumbai: Ahead of the start of the long-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Virat Kohli shared a throwback photo on Wednesday relishing his stylish shot in the cash-rich league.
IPL 2022 will start on Saturday with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Wankhede Stadium.
And RCB will lock horns with the Punjab Kings in their tournament opener on Sunday. Kohli shared a photo on KOO expressing her excitement ahead of the opener.
“Not too long left,” Kohli captioned the post on microblogging app KOO.
Meanwhile, RCB have named former South African captain Faf du Plessis as the franchise’s new skipper. Kohli is happy and excited to hand over to du Plessis.
“First and foremost, the most important news is that Faf is going to be captain of RCB and I couldn’t be happier to hand over to a good friend. Someone I’ve known well over the years. We’ve been in touch for many years now and he’s one of the few guys I know outside of cricket and we get along really well So absolutely excited for him to lead RCB Leading this amazing franchise and play under him,” Kohli tweeted earlier this month.
As for the IPL matches, the matches will be played at the stadiums in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune with an audience occupancy rate of 25% in accordance with COVID-19 protocols.
In all, 20 matches each will be held at Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium, 15 matches each at Brabourne and MCA International Stadium, Pune.
