Nikola Tesla Tattoos – Tattoo Ideas, Artists and Designs

Nikola Tesla had an incredibly brilliant mind and he was the driving force behind many different inventions, his contribution to the design of the alternating current (AC) electrical distribution system being the most notable. If you are reading this article, there is a good chance that the electricity supplied to the device you are using is delivered via AC power.

In 2022, unfortunately, Tesla’s name is less associated with its many inventions than with the controversial billionaire who celebrates his birthday today, Elon Musk. This guy :

It’s really a fucking shame considering that Musk has never invented a single thing in his entire life. Tesla, the automaker, has done some innovative things, but Musk isn’t the scientist behind it all. I know, I know, I’m just a grumpy journalist railing against the Supreme Edgelord who’s going to solve all of society’s problems with tunnels and self-driving cars that tend to run over pedestrians on occasion, and all of this is true. But I also wanted to tell you a bit about the ingenious and enigmatic Nikola Tesla.

Ideas are the reason we know Tesla, but one idea in particular ended up being its downfall. His contemporary and rival, Thomas Edison, intended to obtain a patent on each of “his” inventions (Edison often ended up attributing the work of other designers within his laboratory). Tesla had this crazy idea that electricity should be provided to everyone for free. Also, he felt that power plants should be green and not run on coal, and that was in the 1920s. His dream of free electricity didn’t go over well in the United States, especially at this time. era, and Tesla struggled to secure the financing needed to make his dream a reality. Looked at through a capitalist lens, this makes sense – who is going to invest in something that won’t make a profit? – but humanity has definitely lost. Things really haven’t changed much, have they?

Oh, and did we mention Tesla loves pigeons? During the last years of his life, he spent an inordinate amount of time at the park feeding thousands of pigeons. There was one pigeon he particularly loved, a white pigeon that he spent over $2,000 to care for. He described the pigeon thus:

“I have been feeding pigeons, thousands of them for years. But there was one, a beautiful bird, pure white with light gray tips on its wings; this one was different. It was a female. I only had to wish and call her and she would come flying to me. I loved that pigeon like a man loves a woman, and she loved me. As long as I had her, there was a purpose to my life.

Tesla considered himself a humanist and his views on the universal accessibility of electricity and the care he took for a simple pigeon show what a compassionate man he was. Unlike some you know who.

Either way, many people have been inspired by Nikola Tesla over the years and have become inked in celebration of the once-forgotten inventor. Enjoy this gallery of Nikola Tesla tattoos!
