I am delighted to announce that Professor Daniel Farber, one of the country’s top constitutional scholars, will be posting a guest blog this week on his new book:

Here is the editor’s summary:

The Trump presidency was not the first to spark controversial debates over presidential power, but its impact on those debates will reverberate well beyond his tenure. The same rules should apply to all presidents: those whose abuse of power we fear, as well as those whose exercise of power we applaud. In this brief but expansive guide to the presidency, constitutional law expert Daniel Farber traces the limits of presidential power, from the fierce disputes between the Framers to those raging today. Synthesizing history, politics and established law, Contested land also helps readers understand the loopholes and gray areas that fuel these heated conflicts over the limits and controls of presidential authority.

From appointments and moves to wars and emergencies, Contested land investigates clashes between branches of government as well as between presidential power and individual liberty. Importantly, Farber exposes the substance of constitutional law and how it relates to constitutional politics, a relationship that guarantees an evolving institution, strongly shaped by the course of history. The nature of the position makes it difficult to find the right balance between limiting the abuse of power and authorizing its exercise if necessary. As we reflect on the long-term implications of a presidency that has tested these limits of power at every turn, Contested land will be essential reading long after the current political climate stabilizes (or not).

And the presentation texts:

“This is a wonderfully readable and insightful book on a subject of enormous importance: the constitutional parameters of presidential power in the United States. Dan Farber expertly guides readers through multiple aspects of the subject, including constitutional text, methods of constitutional interpretation, and the roles played by law, politics and history. “—Heidi Kitrosser, University of Minnesota Law School

“Farber, one of our country’s foremost constitutional scholars, offers a brilliant analysis of the constitutional limits and historical abuses of presidential power, a problem that has tested our democracy from founding to the end of the day. Trump era. politics, individual rights and the separation of powers, this is an essential book for anyone wishing to understand the main challenges of our past, present and future democracy. —Geoffrey R. Stone, University of Chicago Law School

“This book is a masterclass on the law and politics of presidential powers. Drawing inspiration from foundational debates, modern political practice, and Supreme Court jurisprudence, Farber clarifies the limits of executive power. circuit for Farber. “- Richard Albert, University of Texas at Austin

“Addressing our national agitation over the nature, powers and legitimacy of the presidency, here is an accessible, brilliant and balanced book that anyone interested in these matters should want to read. —Peter L. Strauss, Columbia Law School

“Friciously open-minded and complete. Farber writes beautifully and clearly, and he meticulously presents both sides of every problem. I don’t agree with much of what Farber concludes, but it’s a scholarly and timely book! —Steven Gow Calabresi, Northwestern Pritzker School of Law

“Is the president too powerful or not powerful enough?” Dan Farber’s intelligent and engaging book weaves together law, politics, history and common sense to give readers of all backgrounds a new way to think about this crucial question, which does not depend on the approval or not of the holder. —David A. Strauss, University of Chicago Law School

I’m delighted to announce that FIRE’s Bonnie Snyder will be guest blogging this week on this topic. new book; here is an excerpt from Undoctrinate.org:

The purpose of Undoctrinate.org is to expose and solve the growing problem of biased teaching and indoctrination in K12 classrooms.

Indoctrination is antithetical to education. When a school, teacher or class promotes an “orthodoxy” (a privileged point of view), students perceive that only certain opinions are welcome or permitted. This creates a “cooling effect” which bypasses the thinking process. Students quickly learn to self-censor, stop asking questions or think independently, and simply memorize expected answers in order to please the grader. Biased teaching and orthodoxy leads to many long-term societal problems, such as decreased critical thinking ability and impaired reasoning, decreased creativity, and decreased support for free speech. and a misunderstanding of established civic norms, at the college level and in society.

Our goal is to “de-teach” our schools – that is, to restore solid intellectual diversity, open inquiry, reasoned dialectics, rigor, credibility, ideological curiosity and inclusiveness, and respect for our shared heritage and enlightenment traditions. These traditions include humility as to the limits of one’s own knowledge and understanding, participation in the continued and shared search for “truth” (veritas) and tolerance of dissenting, minority or unorthodox opinions.

I am delighted to report that Profs. Howard M. Wasserman (FIU) and Charles W. “Rocky” Rhodes (South Texas College of Law), both of whom specialize in procedure and what lawyers refer to as “federal courts” (the rules relating to, inter alia, federal courts’ jurisdiction and power), will be guests to blog from today about their new article, “Solve the procedural puzzles of Texas Fetal Heart Rate Law.” Here is the summary :

The Texas Fetal Heartbeat Act enacted in 2021 as Senate Bill 8 prohibits abortions after detection of a fetal heartbeat, a prohibition constitutionally invalid under current Supreme Court precedent. But Texas’ method of law enforcement is unique: it prohibits enforcement by government officials in favor of private civil actions brought by “any person.” Texas has used this enforcement mechanism to impose potentially crippling financial liability on abortion providers and advocates, and to hamper their ability to challenge the constitutional validity of the law through offensive litigation in federal court for prohibit law enforcement. Texas lawmakers have sought to confine abortion providers and advocates to a litigation defensive position in state courts.

This article examines the procedural and jurisdictional barriers that SB8 creates for abortion providers and abortion rights advocates seeking to challenge the constitutional validity of the ban on fetal heartbeats. While Texas has created a jurisdictional and procedural quagmire, the law falls short of ultimate goals. Suppliers and lawyers can litigate in federal courts, although this requires creativity in timing and appropriate litigation targets. They are also expected to be more successful defensively in state courts than lawmakers anticipated or hoped for. Other avenues remain to be argued to defend the rights of abortion providers and advocates – and the pregnant patients they serve – who are consistent with traditional operations and the limitations imposed on federal and state magistrates to rule on cases. constitutional rights.

I am delighted to announce that Dean Joseph Kearney (Marquette) and Professor Thomas Merrill (Columbia) will be posting a guest blog this week on their new book, Lakefront: Public Trust and Private Rights in Chicago, which was just published by Cornell University Press:

How did Chicago, a city known for commerce, come to have such a splendid public waterfront, its most precious asset? Lakeside reveals a story of social, political and legal conflict in which private and public rights have collided repeatedly over time, to produce, as a sort of miracle, a generally happy ending.

Joseph D. Kearney and Thomas W. Merrill study the evolution of the shores of the lake from the mid-19th century to the 21st. Their findings are important in understanding not only Chicago’s history, but also the role of law in determining the future of important urban resources such as waterfronts.

It was on the shores of Lake Chicago that the American doctrine of public trust was born, prohibiting certain public resources from private development. This book describes the circumstances that gave rise to the doctrine and its fluctuating importance over time, and reveals how it was resuscitated at the end of the twentieth century to become the main principle of mediating conflicts between public and private rights in the world. edge of the lake. Lakeside compares the effectiveness of the idea of public trust to other property doctrines and assesses the role of law in relation to more institutional developments, such as the emergence of health commissions and park districts, in securing protection of the lake shore for public uses.

Tracing its history, Kearney and Merrill demonstrate that the current state of the lakeside is in part the product of individuals and events unique to Chicago. But technological changes and a transformation of social values in favor of recreational and preservationist uses have also been critical. Throughout the process, the law, although constantly evolving, has at least played a supporting role.

And here are some jacket presentations:

“In this remarkable book, Kearney and Merrill describe how Chicago became one of the world’s most glorious urban waterfronts. They masterfully weave this surprisingly contingent story, recounting two centuries of field events, influential figures and of fluctuating laws and developments that together have created the city’s justly famous lakefront. ”—Carol M. Rose, University of Arizona and Yale Law School, author of Ownership and persuasion

“A beautiful and delightfully told story, full of scoundrels and corrupt politicians, Lakeside solves the long-standing enigma of the origins of the famous 19th-century Supreme Court decision in Illinois Central Railroad Co. v. Illinois and reveals its no less extraordinary epilogue, including the unlikely resurrection of the ruling by activists of the 1970s to become a powerful legal precedent for environmental protection. “—Richard J. Lazarus, Aibel Law Professor, Harvard University, author of The making of environmental law

“Grant Park and the Chicago lakefront are among the country’s great public spaces. This inspiring book reveals the troubled historical, legal and social roots of these parks. Consistently thorough, insightful, and readable, Kearney and Merrill are role models for working in urban history. “—Robert C. Ellickson, Walter E. Meyer professor of real estate and urban law, Yale University, author of Lawless order

“Thanks to its authors’ exhaustive research, clear prose, colorful characters, exceptionally useful maps, and an enviable ability to illuminate all complex concepts of private and public property, Lakeside is a wonderful read not only for those interested in Chicago, but also for anyone interested in understanding how urban built environments are born and continually evolve. —Carl Smith, Northwestern University, author of City water, City life and The great Chicago fire

Lakeside is an excellent book that adds a great deal to our understanding of development along Lake Michigan in the city of Chicago. —Ann Durkin Keating, North Central College, author of Juliette Kinzie’s world

A fascinating and beautifully crafted historical tale of one of America’s greatest waterfront cities and the legal doctrines that have shaped its development while preserving its greatest natural asset. A must read for anyone interested in the urban history, property rights and the preservation of public spaces. “—Nicole Stelle Garnett, University of Notre Dame, author of Order the city

“Creating Chicago’s extraordinary landscape along Lake Michigan took law, a lot, a lot of law. It’s the central idea that shapes Kearney and Merrill’s Lakeside. This is a transformative study, rooted in imaginative research into mysterious files and countless government documents, as well as illuminating mapping. It will be essential reading for urban historians, for students of the planning process, as well as for legal historians and for property advocates. For those most interested in property law, Kearney and Merrill question the sentimental conceptions of power in the doctrine of public trust and argue for the importance of possession and vested interests in property. development elaboration. For planners and others, they present a solid argument, although it will inevitably cause controversy, that contingency and unintended consequences were more important than aesthetic vision in producing the wonder and beauty that we admire at home. Chicago lakefront. “—Hendrik Hartog, Class of 1921 Bicentennial Professor in the History of American Law and Liberty, Emeritus, author of Public property and private power

“The authors build their compelling story on a case-by-case basis, easily accessible to the layman reader. We learn how, legally or illegally, agencies, town planners, personalities, courts and a railroad have shaped the lakeside of Chicago of unique beauty today. ” – Libby Hill, author of Chicago River

Lakeside provides a detailed history of the making of the Chicago lakeside. Each chapter tells an episode of local legal history, with the authors briefly and skillfully explaining legal concepts as needed. It is a very well researched, well organized and extremely well written book. “—Stuart Banner, UCLA School of Law, author of Speculation

I look forward to their publications!

I am delighted to report that Prof. Robert Leider from Georgia Mason University Law School (Antonin Scalia) will be blogging about his new article this week, The modern common law of crime; here is the summary :

Two visions of American criminal law have emerged. The first view is that criminal law is statutory and postulates that legislatures, and not courts, develop substantive criminal law. The second vision, like the first, begins with legislative supremacy, but ends with democratic dysfunction. From this perspective, while contemporary American criminal law is statutory in theory, in practice American legislatures poorly draft and maintain criminal codes. This effectively delegates the “real” drafting of criminal law to prosecutors, who shape the law through their indictment decisions.

This article offers a third vision: that modern American criminal law is first and foremost “conventional” in the British Commonwealth’s sense of the term. That is, much of our criminal law is defined by unwritten standards similar to those of the common law which are widely recognized and generally respected, and yet are not recognized as a formal law enforceable before courts.

This article makes three contributions. First, he argues that there are criminal law conventions. Second, it explains how non-legal checks on prosecutorial power lead to criminal law conventions. Third, it explains how legislatures and courts should respond to a criminal law heavily composed of norms that rely primarily on non-legal sanctions for their application.

I am delighted to announce that Clifford Winston of the Brookings Institution will be posting a guest blog this week on Problems at the Bar: An Economic Perspective on the Legal Profession and the Case for Fundamental Reform, which he co-wrote with David Burk and Jia Yan. Here is the editor’s summary:

Deregulation of the legal profession will benefit society by improving access to legal services and the effectiveness of public policies.

Lawyers dominate a justice system that has been criticized for limiting access to its services mainly to the wealthier members of society. Lawyers also have a pervasive influence in other areas of government. This is the first book to provide a critical and comprehensive overview of the role of the legal profession in its inability to serve the majority of the public and in its contribution to shaping ineffective public policies that reduce public welfare.

In Problem at the bar, the authors use an economic approach to provide empirical support to legal reformers concerned with their own profession. The authors highlight the detrimental effects of self-regulation of the legal profession, which increases the cost of legal training, decreases the supply of lawyers and limits public access to justice to the point where, in general, only legal professionals certified attorneys can perform even simple contracts. At the same time, barriers to entry that limit competition create a closed environment that hinders valid approaches to analyze and resolve the legal issues that are at the heart of effective public policy.

According to the authors, deregulation of the legal profession would allow more people to provide a variety of legal services without compromising their quality, reduce the cost of those services, stimulate competition and innovation in the private sector, and increase the quality of lawyers pursuing a career. in the public sector. Legal practitioners would benefit from more fulfilling careers, and society in general and its most vulnerable members in particular would benefit greatly.

And the presentation texts:

Problem at the bar is an extraordinary book. It examines and analyzes – with great conceptual and empirical sophistication – the organization of the entire American legal system and the legal professionals that comprise it, from the dreams of students choosing to attend lower-rated law schools to working lawyers. in the prosecutor’s office. General to the attorneys of the Supreme Court itself. Every person in America should understand on some level how the legal profession works. Problem at the bar provides the basis for this understanding. —George L. Priest, Edward J. Phelps Professor of Law and Economics, Yale Law School

Problem at the bar empirically examines the state of the legal profession in the United States. It examines the barriers in place to regulate entry into law schools and the restrictions placed on legal service providers. He advocates for the deregulation of many aspects of the profession and its openness to new approaches. It is a serious book on a serious problem and deserves careful reading. “—Jame J. Heckman, Henry Schultz Distinguished Service Professor in Economics, University of Chicago; researcher, American Bar Foundation

I look forward to the messages.

Five years ago, I decided to link to my personal site, and my weapon of choice was guest blogging.

I was only looking for high quality links and only featured my posts to high profile blogs like Moz, CXL, Social Media Examiner, Entrepreneur, and other big stars.

Fortunately, my efforts were not in vain and I even had my own columns as a contributor.

But the more guest content I wrote, the more I realized that guest blogging had nothing to do with link building – even though that was why I started writing guest posts.

I learned my lesson. But I still see this misconception circulating around that guest content helps acquire more links.

Let me explain why you shouldn’t blindly trust guest blogging as a link building strategy.

When done right, guest blogging is expensive

Guest blogging, with the proper understanding of this concept, is an expensive business.

Just to provide you with a bit of context, a well-delivered column in the B2B niche costs around $ 400 to $ 500 on Upwork.

Here’s the problem: The best copy is supposed to introduce something unique, but not all guest posts live up to that expectation.

Advertising

I’ve noticed that only a true expert can share something truly valuable instead of rewriting what has already been shared and currently ranks remarkably well in the SERPs.

Ideally, a decent blog post is delivered by an expert in the field and then tweaked by an experienced copywriter.

This is exactly how I write my messages. I don’t have time to perfect every sentence, but I always make a detailed plan.

And, of course, the more time an expert spends writing a copy, the more it costs.

For example, I need four hours to a few days (depending on the topic) to write something solid.

The more time I spend on an item, the higher the final price.

In a Perfect World, guest blogging is done by contributors who really know their stuff and can write something truly unique. But as useful and insightful this copy is, it is incredibly expensive to produce.

The best blogs in the industry don’t link to your strategic pages

I don’t want to completely remove guest blogs. But if you are considering using this strategy for bonding, be prepared for possible rejection.

Most high quality industry blogs will not allow you to link to your most important pages.

I’m talking about your commercial pages; those who present your services or products.

These pages are strategic for your business, but they provide almost no value to the readers of the blog that posted your article.

For them, these pages are less informative and do not provide in-depth information on a particular topic. They are transactional and not informative.

Now, you may disagree and think that you should be able to link to such pages as a reward for your contribution to the content.

However, I will side with a potential reader, even though I am a link maker by day (and a dressage champion by night).

Why is my stance on linking to business pages through guest blogging so strict?

Such links change the intent of the guest post.

When I work on a column, I do my best to deliver something meaningful.

But if I link to my agency’s service page in my post, it means I should start talking about our offers. As a result, my copy changes from educational copy to commercial copy.

Of course, there are blog posts that aim to sell a product, but guest blogging is rarely about that.

If I add a link to one of my strategy pages, it will hardly help my brand stand out and my post will prove to be a hard sell.

Large-scale guest blogs lead to poor quality links

Unfortunately, you can’t rely too much on guest blogging.

The point is, the more guest posts you write to build links, the lower quality they’ll be.

Advertising

Here’s why. There are many link building agencies that use guest blogging as their go-to link building strategy.

The cost per guest post can vary, but they’re generally quite affordable. For example, The Hoth offers guest blogging services for around $ 400, which is quite reasonable.

Why guest blogging is the worst link building strategy

All link building agencies use the same logic: the customer selects the metrics of a site they want to post a guest post on (domain authority, organic traffic, etc.). After that, you sit down and wait for the agency to do all the work for you.

Advertising

At first glance, there’s nothing wrong with linking through new content on a seemingly trustworthy website, but it doesn’t work like that.

Link building agencies look for quick ways to post content, and the sites they work with may not care about the quality of guest contributions.

Another problem is that most of the sites that partner with link building agencies that publish guests on a large scale are either content farms that are used only by link builders or are private blogging networks that mostly exist. to manipulate search engine rankings.

There is no way to know for sure that this is not a private blogging network, and if your link ends up on the content farm site, consider yourself lucky.

In short: garbage in, garbage out.

If your link ends up on a shady website, you may be hurting your SEO rather than helping it.

This might be the price to pay if you decide to set up guest blogs on a large scale. In fact, posting content on a great website takes a lot of time and effort.

Advertising

Unfortunately, you also cannot overcome this problem by creating guest blogs in-house.

Even if you post guest posts yourself, you won’t be able to immediately target blogs with high editorial standards. You’ll end up looking for some handy fruit just to start with and end up with the same shoddy links anyway.

So the lesson here is that producing mass guest posts can lead to a lot of unnecessary links.

If a website easily gives backlinks, Google devalues their priority. As a result, all of your link building efforts and hard work on guest content will be wasted.

Google recommends adding “Nofollow” to all links in guest posts

Here’s another problem: Google doesn’t like link building.

The general recommendation is to add the “nofollow” attribute to all links in guest posts. And links with this tag do not provide any benefit or authority.

Google does not penalize a website for guest posts. However, Google’s algorithms are trained to identify and devalue guest post links.

Advertising

Therefore, such links do not help to improve the position of the site in search results.

What is the point of writing guest posts?

I understand if you are confused right now, as everything I have told you so far suggests that guest blogging has no real value.

However, posting guest posts is an important part of building brand awareness.

Such content helps illustrate your authority in the niche.

Additionally, if your guest’s content displays quality and expertise, it has an impact on how Google rates your brand and whether it deserves to rank higher in the SERPs.

Don’t reject guest blogging altogether.

Keep in mind that your guest blogging activity shouldn’t cause Google to associate your brand with low-quality posts on shady websites.

Think of guest blogging as part of your PR strategy, and only post guest posts on resources that your audience trusts.

And don’t skimp on quality by posting guest blogs en masse!

Instead, be more picky and aim only to publish your content only to reputable resources.

Guest blogs are more about social proof than link building

To recap, guest blogging can get expensive, whether you write the content yourself or hire the help of a writer.

Getting a link to a strategic page in your guest post is next to impossible; no decent website will ever want to publish it.

On top of that, the more guest posts you write for the purpose of linking, the lower the quality of the links you will get.

And, Google isn’t a fan of guest blogging either.

So why even try to write guest posts?

For social proof and brand awareness.

Guest blogs work well as a public relations strategy and can help you rank higher in search results because they prove your brand’s authority.

But that’s not the perfect way to bond.

If you want your business website to rank higher in Google’s SERP rankings, you will need to use a lot of SEO techniques, including guest posting. As the name suggests, guest posting is an SEO technique where you write a blog related to your website for a host website in your niche. This allows you to promote your brand on other platforms and also helps you build strong backlinks. Guest posting is not only beneficial for the guest website but also for the host website. You will give them new content for their viewers to read, and in return, you will get a strong backlink.

When you run a website, you don’t just manage a lot of things, including creating great content, running social media platforms, and running other marketing campaigns. This makes it harder for any business to focus on guest posting because the process takes a lot of effort. This is where a guest blogging service can come in handy for your business. A guest blogging service not only finds the right websites for your business, but also ensures that you post a high quality blog on them. So if you want to win links to high trust publications that are relevant to your business, you should consider hiring a guest blogging service. Let’s take a look at a few points that will convince you to hire a guest blogging service for your own good.

Time saving

One of the most compelling reasons to hire a guest post service is that it can save you a lot of time. You can make more money in the future, but you can never save more time. It is strictly advised that you do not waste your time researching relevant websites for your niche and writing new content. Instead, you should hire an experienced guest blogging service for this job, as they’ll be able to do the job more efficiently. Most guest posting services have a huge library of websites and keep in touch with websites from all industries. They are very experienced and know exactly what they are doing.

Creative and relevant content for the brand

If you’re worried that outsourcing your guest posts will result in unbranded content, that’s not true. In fact, hiring a guest posting service will allow you to create content that is more relevant to your brand and that isn’t rushed. Most guest blogging services have a diverse team of writers who can create any type of content and write in different styles. All you have to do is provide them with a detailed dossier, and they will follow it strictly. After a while, the service provider will become familiar with your brand and offer you more diverse content over time. In fact, they might end up writing better content than your internal time.

Create affordable campaigns

If you’ve been building your own marketing campaigns for a few years then you need to take a look at how things went. When a company manages its marketing campaigns in-house, it either ends up having weak campaigns or it spends too much money on them. The digital landscape is constantly changing, and if you want to keep pace without wasting your resources, you need to make smarter decisions. When it comes to guest posting, you can either hire a separate team for it or just go for a guest blogging service. The former is not only expensive, but it is also time consuming. Hiring a guest blogging service will save you a lot of money, and on top of that, you’ll get quality content from experienced writers.

Gives you exposure

If you want your brand to gain popularity quickly, you can’t just rely on social media. Facebook can bring you visitors who have interests relevant to your business or who are looking for your product or service, but guest posting helps you find people who are passionate about what you do. A good guest blogging service will find the best websites in your niche and make sure your post gets published on time. This way, you will be able to direct more users to your website.

Improves credibility

When it comes to guest posting, you shouldn’t just focus on exposure, but you also need to pay attention to credibility. It doesn’t matter whether your brand’s current online image is good or bad; once you hire a guest posting service for it, you’ll just go up from there. When people find useful, high-quality content on your website on their favorite blog, they are very likely to trust your brand. It doesn’t matter what niche your brand is in. Guest blogging is a popular link building strategy among many brands.

But only a few of them use it successfully.

Why is that?

Guest blogging seems like a pretty straightforward idea: you post content on an external site to secure the links to your site.

Basically, you are trading your well-written content for a quality link.

At first glance, it looks awesome.

But is it really a profitable way to acquire links?

In my experience, a good article cannot be written overnight.

You need time and resources (editors, topic experts, etc.) if you want to publish great content – and that’s why the cost per link is soaring.

Plus, how many posts can you write per month? Five? Ten?

Even if you are able to write an article a day, this strategy is still quite difficult to evolve.

If you want hundreds of links, you’ll need hundreds of posts. And there’s more to it than mass production of content.

Along with a well-delivered blog post, you should also spend time pitching your ideas to editors.

Every month there will need to be new editors so that you can post to many different sites and not get stuck with a few.

As you can see, there is a ton of ‘hidden’ work when it comes to bonding as a guest contributor.

So I decided to share how to get the most out of this strategy and secure quality links through regular blogging in your niche.

3 ways to improve your guest blogging strategy

The first rule of guest blogging is to have quality content.

Obviously, no one wants boring or poorly written blog posts on their site.

Once you’re sure your posts are great, it’s time to think about how you can get the most links with each guest post you submit.

I have good news for you!

After reading this article, you will know three secrets of the trade that will help you boost your guest blogging strategy.

Let’s dive into it.

1. Link to sites that invest heavily in a link building process

There are many sites that strive to make their brands more visible. They are a perfect target for you.

These sites are constantly on the lookout for new ways to link and that is why they will be very interested in partnering with you.

By assigning links in your guest posts to such sites, you could establish mutually beneficial relationships with them much more easily and, as a result, get links much faster.

This strategy could drastically reduce the cost of each link you acquire through guest blogging.

So how do you find these sites?

Unfortunately, it is not that simple.

It can take a while, especially if you don’t know what types of sites are accepting guest posts in your niche.

I would recommend using this search query as a starting point where you place your term related to your niche as “your keyword”:

“[your keyword]”(Titled” write for us “OR title:” write for me “OR title:” guest contributor “)

For example, this is what a search request will look like if I want to find sites that accept guest posts on SEO related content:

“SEO” (titled: “write for us” OR intitle: “write for me” OR intitle: “become a contributor”)

This research process is fairly straightforward, but it becomes quite repetitive.

If you’re like me and just want to do boring tasks like SERP scraping as quickly as possible, there is a workaround for you.

You can go to the BuzzSumo tool and get a list of the top writers in your niche just by searching for a relevant term.

For example, below you will find top link building authors where I am in the top 3 right after Julia McCoy, which is really amazing:

Once you have your list, navigate through BuzzSumo to a report called Web content analyzer under Content and search for all articles by the authors:

How to Use Guest Blogs to Build Relationships

Finally, you have a list of blogs that the top writers have contributed to. This is a great starting point for a list of sites with guest bloggers.

Then just export a list of posts that have been posted to those blogs over the past few months and you’re good to go! This BuzzSumo report will also have a separate column with the names of the authors for your reference.

I’m not going to lie to you, putting together a list of guest contributors in your niche isn’t fun.

But I have good news:

You only need to do this once.

To note: If you want to try this strategy before you invest so much time in your research, start with the people who blog on the same blogs as you.

The biggest advantage of these contributors is that you already have something in common and as a result they tend to be much more responsive.

Great, now you have a list of contributors who are also working on making their brands more visible in your niche.

So what you need to do is connect with them and ask if they are interested in teaming up with you to bond.

2. Link to articles on blogs where you plan to feature your next guest post

Sounds obvious, right?

But surprisingly, I rarely see people using this strategy.

A link to the blog first leaves a good impression and shows that you are genuinely interested in becoming their contributor.

What better proof of this than to give them a precious connection?

Doing such “pre-work” always helps to melt the ice.

However, do not rush to give links to all blogs.

I always advise people not to give a link without coordinating it with the publisher first as this will ensure that:

  • You’ll bring them a link to the content they’re currently working on to be at the top of Google. This link will therefore be much more appreciated than any other.
  • You are much more likely to get a response because you are not offering them anything.
  • You will build relationships before sending your guest post. Thus, the chances that your guest post will be accepted in the future becomes much higher.

After engaging in these conversations with the editors, I’m sure they’re happy to consider your guest post for their blog.

3. Ask editors to connect you with other guest contributors or blog editors.

This step takes the previous strategy to a whole new level.

As we discussed earlier, by helping publishers with links, you are building mutually beneficial relationships.

So, at some point, it is quite okay to ask for help in exchange for your favors.

A good thing to ask is to give yourself a warm intro to other blog contributors or even other blog publishers so that you can expand your network and see if there is any chance for collaboration there.

Next thing you know, instead of looking for guest posting opportunities, those opportunities will find you!

Get connections by helping others

Guest posts are great not only for securing quality links, but also for building relationships with editors and bloggers.

It will take a little while at first, but it gets better as you go, especially if you follow the three strategies we have discussed in this article.

Basically, the more people you know in your niche, the easier it is to acquire links.

As a rule of thumb, try to be really helpful and people will be happy to return the favor.

Let’s put the bitter facts first so that as you chew or go down, things get sweeter. If you think you’ve been in business for more than 3 months and still haven’t managed to get 250 visitors to your blog per day, it’s time to consider a guest blog. Simply put, you should write for sites other than spending time alone, with the ultimate goal of attracting visitors to your site.

Suppose you start with a new blog about a new idea and start writing about it. Soon you will have over 100 posts, all full of awesome content. Now what? You have also managed to get likes and visitors with your referrals and friends on social media. But again, what now? Is that right? All of your friends and references may have liked or wanted to visit your page once as a sign of encouragement, but then again, they’re not really interested in what you’re writing about. And wait, they don’t even have to. Even if they do, the number of people actually visiting your blog will not increase and, in fact, will gradually decrease.

So here’s the catch. You will end up putting all of that effort into yourself and your group of friends who, out of solidarity, will always care to love your posts without even digging into it. It is not a business but simply a hobby that you pursue for non-monetary gain. But, if that’s not what you intended to do, you should consider blogging as a guest.

What is the guest blog?

The internet is huge and growing every day. It’s an ocean of websites trying to catch their share of the public sun and be known. Sadly, 90% of startups fail and experience a tragic end due to a lack of vision, funding, business model, and a clear strategy. Thus, the need for guest blogs becomes even more pronounced for a startup blog to become known. You can’t just keep writing for yourself indefinitely. Before going any further, let’s try to define it.

Guest blogging is a business strategy used by bloggers to increase traffic to their own blogs and websites. As a guest blogger, you blog for other blogs that are operating in your niche as guests. The trend of guest blogging has grown over the years and has become the most sought after strategy by marketers to get more traffic.

How to do guest posting?

Like every game, this one also has a rulebook which not only makes the game easier but also beneficial. Here are some of the most notable rules or tips that will guide you and help you get the most out of guest blogging.

Have a clear goal

You need to have a clear vision of why you are opting for guest blogging. Determining the goal will help you identify the right blogs to blog on for the post. Guest bloggers often have three goals in mind: branding their own blogs in the niche, getting the right traffic, and building backlinks to their website. It is possible and acceptable to aim for all three and even more, but if you are betting on the first two you will have to look for large blogs that have an established audience while if you are aiming for the third option then you can search for blogs that have strong root domain authority.

Find the best guest blogging sites

Once you have defined your main objective, you should now actively seek out the various opportunities that are present in the market. Remember to limit yourself to your own niche because only then will you get the right audience. A good blog option will have a solid and engaged following as well as a reasonable social media presence. Once you know the criteria, you should now be ready to do the much-needed Google research, social searches, in order to find the best platform for blogging. You can also search for bloggers who are very active in your niche and check where they have created guest blogs. Alternatively, you can even undertake a backlink analysis by your competition. This will help you know which sites they have guest blogged on.

Launch it well

It is a big step forward. There are a few considerations to keep in mind when contacting blogging for guest blogging. First and foremost, blog content is supreme and should be scrutinized. It will also tell you the audience they look like such as businesses, intellectuals, individuals, startups, etc. Then you should also see the profiles of other guest bloggers on the site to get an idea of the blog owner’s general preference when choosing a guest blogger. You may be able to find this information in the guest blogger’s biography on the blog itself.

Another key consideration is that blog posts generally perform better than others. Before you make your presentation, you can start commenting on their top performing and most recent posts. Again, this gives the much needed recognition from the blog owner, which is generally seen as a giant leap forward. Finally, the pitch should follow basic guest posting guidelines and make your pitches more personalized by including the name of the blog owner in the post. You can also include the name of your own blog in the pitch, as most blog owners only allow guest bloggers who own a blog themselves.

The benefits of guest blogging are obvious, but it’s not an easy entry into the world. You will have to try several options in order to enter the kingdom. Building relationships, making yourself known to the blog owner is essential. Once you’ve entered another essential consideration is the topic of the blog. Remember, it’s not about you or your passion when creating a guest blog, it’s about the preferences and audience of the blog owner you will be posting a guest post for. Ultimately, remove yourself from the equation as this will get you to a more focused topic. The idea of the topic will not lie in the popular keywords of the niche but rather in the most popular blog posts, or the most read articles. This will get you to the pain point that you should be addressing in your guest post.

Finally, it’s important to research and interact with comments on your blogs to make sure people read and care to leave a note. Even in terms of metrics, it’s a vital statistic that Google’s algorithm takes into account before ranking your pages. Remember that most comments are a means of expressing appreciation and building a relationship and therefore you should be able to maintain the tone of the comment in your response. Guest blogs are a great way to introduce yourself to a new audience in your niche to expand your reach. It takes extensive and streamlined research to write a guest blog to ensure that audiences find value in it and take the time to reach your own blog for more such information.

All of these points outlined above will help shape a great guest post. Try yours now and share your experiences.
